The project „Diversity as a Chance”, funded by the European Social Fund, was conceptualized by the Ministry for Social, Health, Integration and Consumer Issues (MSGIV) of the federal state of Brandenburg as part of the Urban-Fringe Competition. Publicly administered by the City Administration of Cottbus, it supports migrants and refugees independent of their country of origin and current residence status. The project aims to accompany and consult participants on their way to a sustainable professional and personal integration in the region. For this endeavor, Cottbus serves as the lead municipality and collaborates closely with the county Spree-Neiße in order to cater to the needs of the people interested in the project here as well. Strong network management by the city’s department for education and integration is the main driver for multiple smaller projects being implemented by the project team in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders in the field.
