Local history museum Dissen

The local museum is in the former school building, built in 1899, in the locality of the village church.

The presentation, which began 15 years ago with modest collections, is now a rather large collection from the Sorbian/Wendish village.

The museum displays pictures of the former Sorbian/Wendish life illustrating their farm house life, strenuous agricultural work, festivals and traditions.

A special point of attraction is the Lower Sorbian decorative costumes made from a variety of materials, ranging from rural working clothes to artistically embroided wedding dresses. They are unique and eyecatching with all their variations and partial completeness. 15 decorative costume varieties display the appropriate dress code for different occasions.
