Twin Cities

The partnerships with other cities give a chance to let the citizens meet with each other. These relations exist thanks to the engagement of people that personally contribute to the process of getting know one another in associations, schools, nursery schools and also in the administration.

Cottbus maintains nine partnerships with cities in Europe from what two of them had been initiated in the 1990s.

Partnership associations maintain good relations on the civil level with the cities of Montreuil (F), Zielona Góra (PL) and Lipezk (R).

Cottbus focuses on the partnership work at the existing projects.

A special art of friendship connects aus with the city of Zielona Góra. It results from the direct neighbourhood and from expierence exchange counting more than 30 years. These facts made gaining of financial aids and grants within the Small-Project-Fund from the INTERREG III-A initiative (www.euroregion-snb.de) for the Euroregion „Spree-Neiße-Bober/Sprewa-Nysa-Bóbr“ possible.

Annualy at the beginning of September on the occasion of Wine Festival in Zielona Góra the agreement is signed by the lord mayors of the partnership cities of Cottbus and Zielona Góra.
